A Short History
The Lindens building was originally purchased by the Gabriel Education Trust in 1985 with the aim of providing a venue for a Steiner Waldorf Early Years Centre. The funds came from private donation enabling the founding trustees to secure the building in the centre of Stroud and making it available for early years childcare. The Gabriel Education Trust is still the registered charity that owns and looks after the building and works closely with the educational provision.
The setting was originally called The Lindens Family Centre and offered a kindergarten, parent and child group, parenting courses and childbirth classes. It has been a thriving setting for many years supporting the healthy development of children and providing support and community for families in the area.
The building underwent significant redevelopment during 2020 and is now run by The Lindens Early Years CIC. As a Community Interest Company we are committed to providing the best early years education, and are working towards a rebirth of The Lindens.
Currently, we are running Parent and Child groups for families with children aged 0-3. We are in the pre-registration stages of an early years setting and will be opening our kindergarten for children aged 3-6 as soon as possible. In the future, we also hope to have a nursery group for the 2-3 age group.
